Social Bowls – Bayswater Bowling & Recreation Club

Challenge your friends to a fun game of social bowls. Partner it up with some food and drinks for an action packed event.
  • Our synthetic lawn can host up to 56 players. Teams usually consist of 4-8 people.
  • Social bowls cost $10 per person.
  • All equipment provided including bowls, mats and a bowler giving you some tips to get started.
  • Great for novices, experienced, young, old, competitive or a bit of fun.
  • Perfect for engagement parties, birthday parties, corporate events, networking events or a relaxed Sunday of afternoon fun.
The great thing about lawn bowls is that you can make it as casual or competitive as you like. Keep the rules simple and the closest to the jack (the little yellow/white ball) wins each end.

Note: Bowls season runs all year. We will try our best to accommodate your request but please understand that our bowlers take priority. 

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play social bowls at BBRC?

Yes, members can play social bowls, but bookings are essential.

Social bowls is only available:

  • When booked in advance, e.g. for parties, corporate events, or as part of other functions, or;
  • During regular opening hours if the bowls greens are not reserved for Club play, or for another function.

For same day enquiries (“can we drop in this afternoon and play”), please phone the Club on 9271 4515.

For larger groups or functions, please submit the venue hire form at https://bayswater.bowls.com.au/venue-hire/ and allow at least 24 hours for a reply.

Please note:

  • Bookings are essential, membership is required (1 in 6 of the group, as described above)
  • Games usually take about 45 minutes for 2-3 ends
  • Footwear must be flat shoes (sneakers) or socks. No hard bottomed shoes or heels are permitted
  • Children are permitted to bowl at the sole discretion of the Club manager on the day, and in general, children are not permitted on the bowls greens.

What happens if I pre-pay for social bowls but some people don’t show up?

The unused pre-paid amount can be refunded to you after your booking. Please provide your bank details in this instance. Alternately, the amount can be credited as a bar tab for use on the day of your booking only.
